Your Rights as a Patient

As a patient of Merrindale Medical Centre, you have the right to:

  • Receive safe, high-quality healthcare

  • Be involved in decisions regarding your care and treatment

  • Ask questions and receive information in a way you can understand

  • Seek a second opinion

  • Privacy and confidentiality of your personal and health information

  • Access your medical records in accordance with privacy legislation

  • Be informed about fees and billing arrangements

  • Provide feedback or make a complaint without fear of discrimination or affecting your care

  • Receive culturally respectful and inclusive care

  • Request an interpreter or support person where appropriate

Your Responsibilities as a Patient

To help us provide the best possible care, we ask patients to:

  • Treat staff and other patients with courtesy and respect

  • Provide accurate and complete information about your health and medical history

  • Inform the practice of any changes to your contact details

  • Follow agreed treatment plans or discuss concerns with your doctor

  • Attend appointments on time and notify the practice if you need to cancel

  • Understand that emergencies and complex medical issues may occasionally result in delays

  • Respect the privacy and confidentiality of other patients and staff

  • Refrain from abusive, aggressive, threatening, or inappropriate behaviour towards staff or other patients

Merrindale Medical Centre has a zero-tolerance policy towards abusive or violent behaviour.
